Our Story

The inception of SPEAK RT

OUR STORY

Since the course of 1968, Royal Academy of Science International Trust (RASIT) has become an increasingly significant International Non-Governmental Organization as a global actor. Throughout the years of development and strong international relations with the international community and multi-stakeholders has led to the natural emergence of RASIT World Youth League and its Media programs. RASIT has been coordinating with 95 countries, 1711 multi-stakeholders and academic institutions, as well as its >52,000 associate members who are from around the globe, to deliver excellence in social and economic sustainable development programs. All of this is indicative of RASIT’s potential to see world events differently.

Founded in 1969, RASIT World Youth League activities and programs have long been a hub where ideas, information, advocacy, sustainability, and implementation intersect. In an age of information and media, RASIT Department of Communication and Media is giving opportunities to youth and young professionals and equipping them with skills to provide new perspectives on world events to a global audience.

THE origin

In collaboration with the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Lebanon, a weekly radio program produced by RASIT aired live every Monday on Lebanon Official Radio Station at FM 98.5. This unique Radio Program, known as “ENWAN”, has provided a platform for Arab youth and foreign university students in the MENA Region to have the opportunity to debate with guests from different backgrounds. The Guests’ backgrounds ranged from Ministers, parliamentarians, CEOs of the Private Sector corporates, Foreign Ambassadors, and Representatives of the International Community. The Hosts of the ENWAN Radio Program were young women and men who were trained by RASIT to be prepared for interviewing thy guest.

With RASIT’s continuous efforts, the youth, whether hosts or the audience of the ENWAN Radio Program gained skills and knowledge, confidence, self-esteem, the encouragement to debate challenges and present their views on possible solutions, and more importantly, it helped in narrowing the gap between generations “Inter-Generational Dialogue”.

S.P.E.A.K. RADIO AND TELEVISION

To magnify the successful impact of the ENWAN Radio Program, RASIT has initiated “S.P.E.A.K” Radio and Television initiative “By Youth to the World”.

With a vision to be a catalyst for positive change, S.P.E.A.K. RT mission is to expand understanding, challenge assumptions, encourage debate and influence positive behavior.

Reading articles, listening, or watching the programs won’t be the end of the line for S.P.E.A.K. RT audience. We are aiming to get a response from our viewers: all generations a reaction, a change in their thought pattern, a different perception of social, economic, sustainable development, and international issues and a more clear, deeper understanding of various cultures and ethnicities. It’s a two-way streak at S.P.E.A.K. RT and we invite you to be a part of our aspiration and your inspiration.

We define our audience as global citizens with a global conscience and believe they deserve to be at the heart of the story. Our field first approach means our colleagues will be situated in all five corners of the world, namely: Sustainability, Peace, Education, Advocacy and Knowledge, ready to report and cover events. S.P.E.A.K. RT will put emphasis on the humanitarian angle of each story, prioritizing how the event influences the people rather than the stakeholders.

With an original media model uninfluenced by those of other global media outlets, we hope to contribute to the narrative of how stories are told and channel in new perspectives of thought. In other words, we aspire for a better-informed global audience.
